A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC ORCHESTRA (ALNMO)
After 16 years, our conductor, Peter Stigings, is taking a well earned
retirement. ALNMO was founded in 1972 by Derek MacDermot.
Under both Derek and Peter’s leadership, it has grown into a full
symphony orchestra of some 65 amateur musicians.
ALNMO is a registered non-profit charity. It currently rehearses at
the Magee Secondary School in Vancouver on Monday evenings
from 7:30 to 9:30. There are three concerts per year in the school’s
auditorium, which are shared with a group from the Music
Department. ALMNO performs for about 45 minutes to one hour,
playing a variety of classical/light classical pieces depending on the
season. As an example, this year’s March concert included Carmen
Suite No 1, Orpheus in the Underworld Overture and Ravel’s Pavane.
There is an assistant conductor, a member of the Music
Department, who also acts as a liaison with the School.
The Board of Directors is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic person
to carry on Peter’s work in leading the orchestra onto greater
success. He or she should have professional qualifications and
conducting experience. Remuneration to be negotiated.
Please forward a CV to the Board c/o Philip Neame, Vice President:
